How to prepare for a nurturing postpartum course
Every culture has or used to have a period of at least a month after birth during which a new mother was nurtured, given special food and massages, and encouraged to rest and recuperate from growing and birthing her baby.
How did we lose this custom? It used to be part of Western culture too in living memory.
Many mothers suffer needlessly in a culture that no longer knows how to support their needs.
This course is for you if you want to have a nurturing and restful postpartum, or if you want to help others have one.
You will learn about what we used to have, why what we have isn’t working, and how the support boils down to the four simple pillars, which are easy to recreate even in a culture that doesn’t support the postpartum
You will dive deep into your own beliefs, how you acquired them, and how they compare to the new knowledge.
You will learn how to write a postnatal recovery plan, and why it’s essential to prepare ahead of time
You will learn why hiring help, and in particular a doula, can make all the difference between a stressful and a restful postpartum.
You will even learn how to prepare for every eventuality, even the unexpected.
By the end of this course, you will feel confident and armed with all the tools your need to have the postpartum recovery you deserve. One that places you firmly at the centre and meets your needs.

Why am I the right instructor?
Having worked as a doula from 2012 to 2022, I also have a diploma in antenatal education and spent several years teaching live antenatal classes for the NCT. I have been facilitating live workshops for birth professionals for over ten years. I know how present information in a way that is entertaining, easy to follow, and which allows students to learn easily and enjoyably, as well as apply what they have learnt in the class.
Prior to being a perinatal educator, I gained a PhD in Physiology of Reproduction and spent 20 years working as a biology research scientist.
Because of my unique background, this course is developed with a blend of traditional, personal and scientific knowledge.
