Drumming as Medicine

A 4 weeks live online women’s circle for peace, presence & wellbeing

Is the Drum Calling You?

Would you love a simple practice that quiets mental chatter, regulates your nervous system, and reconnects you to your inner wisdom – all in just 5 minutes a day?

Do you wish you had a way to process stuck emotions and feel more present that doesn’t require hours of meditation or therapy?

Would you love to do this with the support of like-minded women who genuinely understand and are rooting for your wellbeing?

If this speaks to you, join me for a month of discovering drumming as medicine, creating a sustainable daily practice, and building community with women on the same journey.

From Overthinking to Embodied Knowing

Drumming bypasses endless thinking. Within minutes, the rhythm shifts your brainwaves, drops you into your body, and opens the channel to inner wisdom that words can’t reach.

This isn’t about becoming “good at drumming” – it’s about remembering a language your body already speaks.

I Know Drumming Can Feel Intimidating

Especially if you think you’re “not musical.” I know this firsthand. Despite years of supporting women with drumming, I still had moments of doubt about my own abilities.

What I’ve learned is that this isn’t about becoming a drummer. It’s about using drumming intuitively as a tool for transformation.

The questions are real: What drum should I get? What if I can’t keep a beat? How do I even start? What if my family thinks I’m weird?

What you really want is simple:

A proven practice that takes just 5 minutes a day and creates real shifts in your wellbeing. A guide to take you by the hand and show you the way. A community of women supporting you.

This is why I’ve created this month-long circle : to replace your overwhelm and self-doubt with clarity, confidence, and genuine transformation.

  • This Month-Long Circle Will Help You:
    • Create a sustainable daily practice: Learn how to integrate 5 minutes of drumming into your day in a way that feels intuitive and natural, not like another item on your to-do list. This is a practice I have created, called drum microdosing.
    • Regulate your nervous system: Experience how drumming shifts your state of consciousness, reduces stress, and creates the conditions for calm and presence.
    • Move through resistance and self-doubt: Break through the belief that you’re “not musical” or “can’t keep rhythm” with a practice that honours your unique way of expressing yourself through drumming.
    • Process stuck emotions: Learn how drumming can help you access and release feelings that talk therapy can’t reach.
    • Connect with a supportive community: Be witnessed and held by other women on the same journey, creating meaningful relationships that support your wellbeing.

Discover why drumming is one of the most powerful (and overlooked) tools for women’s wellbeing & empowerment

About me

Hi, I’m Sophie Messager and I’ve been using drumming for women’s wellbeing for over a decade…

It all began in my doula work, when I discovered that drumming could help women access altered states during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and reconnect with their innate knowing and power.

Over the past 12 years, I’ve drummed for hundreds of women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, loss, grief, life transitions, and healing. I’ve witnessed the profound shifts that happen when women reconnect with the power of the drum.

My new book, The Beat of Your Own Drum, explores the history, science, and contemporary use of drumming as a path for women’s wisdom, health, and transformation.

I’m not a professional musician, I don’t perform on stage, and I’m never going to teach you complex rhythms. But I can share what I’ve learned about using drumming as medicine for women’s wellbeing, nervous system regulation, and accessing inner wisdom, in a way that is both easy and accessible.

What some women have said about drumming work with me:

Magic happens when women sit in circle, especially when drumming as well. Sophie holds a beautifully supportive space for us all to be in, feel the rhythm and the magic. I feel that I have learned and remembered a lot about myself, I feel more connected within. Truly beautiful!Thalia Nikolaidou, birth educator (about my drum microdosing live online course)

“This is a deeply affirming experience that connects you back to your innate wisdom using the ancient power of rhythm and sound of the drum. Sophie has a beautiful kind presence and ability to guide you safely and easily into the depths of your being.”Kanan Tekchandani, Neurodivergent Coach (about a one to one drum healing session)

“Sophie’s course is great, everything is explained in great detail & nothing is rushed or overloaded with information. It’s a beautiful way to connect with yourself and your drum for your future practices.”Robyn, Birthworker (about my drumming for birth course)

Sophie combines her love for drumming and holistic approach with her scientific curiosity. She doesn’t just make a statement, she backs it up with either an anecdote or scientific research or both. Her passion for drumming is evident” Jan Carver, Massage therapist (about my drum microdosing workshop)

You Might Feel at Home in This Circle If:

  • You’re curious about drumming but don’t consider yourself “musical”
  • You’re seeking a practice that combines body, mind, and spirit
  • You value evidence-based approaches combined with ancient wisdom
  • You can commit to 5 minutes of daily practice (even on hard days)
  • You’re drawn to being part of a supportive women’s community
  • You’re feeling overwhelmed and need something that actually works
  • You’re ready to explore drumming as a tool for transformation

  • You’re looking for advanced drumming instruction or performance skills
  • You prefer a purely technical approach without any spiritual elements
  • You’re not willing to commit to daily practice
  • You’re uncomfortable with combining science and sacred practice
  • You’re hoping to learn without actually doing
  • You’re skeptical about the mind-body connection
  • You want quick fixes without sustainable practice

The journey from overwhelm to presence requires openness, patience, and willingness. If you’re not quite ready for this kind of exploration, that’s perfectly okay – we all have our own timing.

How This Circle Works

This circle is intentionally gentle and supportive. Our brains haven’t evolved to handle the pace of modern life, and adding more pressure isn’t the answer. Together we’ll cultivate a practice that honours your natural rhythms.

Show up in the way that works for you. If you have energy and time, dive into everything. If life is full, attend what you can and catch up with recordings. The live calls have a magical, uplifting energy that I heartily recommend experiencing, but recordings ensure you won’t miss anything.

All course materials will be available on the online platform from the start of the circle, with additional content added weekly as we journey together. You’ll have lifetime access to revisit anytime.

What You’ll Need

Willingness and curiosity – no musical experience required

Internet connection and device for Zoom calls (computer, tablet, or phone)

A quiet space where you can drum for 5 minutes daily without interruption

A drum – or household items like a large book, or your body (we’ll cover options in Week One)
