A course for professionals and parents who want to learn how to use a rebozo to support pregnancy and an easier birth.
What if I told you there was a better way?
If you have had enough of witnessing birth taking longer than the prescribed timing from maternity guidelines, and of seeing obstetrics interventions that go against biomechanics being offered as the only solution (how exactly is lying on your back going to help a malpositioned baby rotate?). If you have had enough of seeing new mothers blame themselves for it, there is a better way.
Rebozo techniques are simple positional and movement techniques which provide comfort and can help gently encourage progress and positioning effectively and safely.
Being present at such births in the past was what that led me to learn these techniques.
I have witnessed miracles. A short jiggle with a rebozo can help babies to turn by themselves in record time. Women being told they needed to go to theatre birthed their babies within an hour.
I want to share these techniques with you in this course.
What does the course contain?
The course is divided in 6 modules
- Welcome
- Introduction
- Pregnancy techniques
- First stage of labour techniques
- Second stage of labour techniques
- Postnatal techniques
- Conclusion
For each of the 25 techniques, the following information is provided:
- Text introduction of the technique
- Stories to illustrate how these techniques help with comfort, support and progress
- Videos tutorials showing how some of the techniques are done
- Osteopathic explanation of the effect of the techniques on the body
By the end of this course, you will know why a rebozo is the most effective tool in your birth bag, and how to use if effectively.
Who is this course for?
This class is for birth professionals and for parents who want to learn how to use a rebozo to support pregnancy, physiological birth, and the postpartum period.
What makes this course special?
I have a unique blend of scientific, theoretical and practical experience. I was a biology research scientist for 20 year prior to reconverting to being a doula ten years ago. I offer a blend of scientific, traditional, and practical knowledge. I have extensive experience in using and teaching rebozo techniques both face to face and remotely.
About the instructor
Having worked as a doula since 2012, I also have a diploma in antenatal education and spent several years teaching antenatal classes. I have been facilitating workshops for birth professionals for over ten years. I know how present information in a way that is entertaining, easy to follow, and which allows students to learn easily and enjoyably, as well as apply what they have learnt in the class.
Prior to being a doula, I gained a PhD in Physiology of Reproduction and spent 20 years working as a biology research scientist.
How long does the course take?
The course is pre-recorded. You can do it in your own time when it suits you. It can be done in a day if you set the time aside, though I recommend doing it in smaller chunks to have time to digest it as well as practise on volunteers. There is no time limit to complete the course.
I joined the online Rebozo course with Sophie, and found it absolutely fascinating, I found the course, fun, detailed and so accessible online, especially being a busy mum myself. Also loved the quiz at the end of each module to test my knowledge which was really useful. I would highly recommend Sophie for her Rebozo course and I would love to do more courses with her when the world opens up! Thank you Sophie.
I really enjoyed working my way through the online course. It was broken up into bite size chunks which made it easier to work through and I could dip in and out when necessary which was handy, especially around my little ones. The video tutorials and the written instructions alongside are clear and it’s handy as you can go back over them as many times as necessary. Sophie is clearly very passionate about this subject and it shines through.
I’m really impressed with the delivery and quality of the course – very easy to understand and a pleasure to watch.
Jo Saville, Yoga teacher and doula
I found Sophie’s online rebozo course very helpful not only in my birth work but also in my breath work. After getting trough all easy to follow videos and information, I am able to apply the techniques in my practice as a birth doula and a breath practitioner. I found the skills which I gained from the course excellent tools which I can use in my work in order to help my clients. I also found Sophie passionate, very helpful and available in case of any additional questions. I am happy that found and took the course.
I have just completed the Rebozo course, it was really interesting. I can’t believe that something so simple can be so effective!
Obviously being a Labour Ward Midwife, I was most interested in how I would be able to use Rebozo to help women who are in active labour, and I am certain that your demonstration videos have made this easy for me to grasp.
I was also interested in how the Rebozo can be used immediately following the birth, and I really like the thought of wrapping the mother following the birth, to provide support to the tired ligaments.
I would like to thank you for the simplicity of the course and the photographs and videos which made each technique really clear. I have really enjoyed it and cant wait to be able to use in with the women I am looking after.
Ruth Taylor, midwife
I completed Sophie’s online rebozo workshop recently and cannot recommend it enough. It was easy to follow, had great demonstration videos and was full of useful information. The course explains at each stage of pregnancy, the best use of the rebozo. Sophie talks you through each move and demonstrates it so it is very easy to replicate. I have been looking for a rebozo course for a long time and was so happy I found this one. Also, because it’s online, it can be accessed at a time and place convenient to you. The self massage part was my favourite new technique because it gives you something to use whether pregnant or not.
