Description
One-to-One Drum Mentoring for Women Who Want to Start or Grow Their Work with the Drum
Want to work with the drum but don’t know where to begin? Already drumming but feeling stuck, unsure how to integrate it into your work, or questioning whether you’re “qualified enough”? Having someone who’s navigated this path can make all the difference.
What I offer:
A 60-minute mentoring session to help you access your own wisdom about your drumming path. Whether you’re exploring how to begin drumming, using it in your work, wrestling with imposter syndrome about your practice, facing blocks with how to integrate drumming into your healing work, or simply feeling paralysed by “am I doing this right?”, I create space for you to reconnect with what you already know.
How it works:
We’ll start by exploring what’s really going on for you and your drumming practice. No holding back, this is a judgment-free space where you can speak the truth of where you are.
Then we’ll work with whatever approach serves you best: deep reflective listening, practical guidance on structuring sessions or ceremonies, working through what’s blocking you, or a drum journey to access the wisdom your thinking mind can’t reach. I hold space for you and follow what emerges rather than a set formula. Sometimes clarity comes through words, sometimes through drumming together, sometimes through the body, and sometimes bypasses thoughts entirely.
Afterwards, we’ll make sense of what arose, helping you integrate insights and identify practical next steps for your drumming work.
This mentoring is for you if:
- You want to start using drumming in your work but don’t feel “qualified enough”
- You’re a birth worker, therapist, or healer wanting to integrate drumming into your practice
- You’re already drumming but feel stuck about how to grow your work
- You’re facing blocks or losing connection with why you started
- You need support structuring workshops, ceremonies, or drum circles
- You’re questioning whether you can call yourself a “drum woman” without years of training
- You worry thar you aren’t doing it right or feel like an impostor
- You want guidance from someone who’s been where you are
The Practicalities
You may choose to receive this 60-minute session either in-person locally near Cambridge, UK, or via Zoom video call. Afterwards, I will send you a summary of our session, allowing you to revisit and integrate the experience.
I bring over 13 years of experience teaching drumming for nervous system regulation, birth, ceremony, and women’s circles. I have a PhD in physiology, 25 years supporting women through major life transitions, and have trained hundreds of practitioners in embodied practices. My role is to act as a supportive, compassionate guide, holding the space for you to uncover your own unique path with the drum, rather than prescribing one-size-fits-all formulas.
What women say about my drumming workshops and sessions:
“This was eye opening to me. From not being able to pick up my drum to playing daily, wow. Such a huge shift inside of me. Thank you Sophie.” Katja, Midwife
“Sophie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her 1:1 work. I was able to express the complexity of what I’m working on fully and be understood. Her suggestions are on point, and I came away from the session with useful insights that I can apply immediately.” – Rebecca Wright
“Sophie is a wise wonderful woman who listens, hears, offers holding space and words of wisdom to become aware, feel and tools to transform.” – Marjan de Jong
“Talking with someone who has been through a similar experience and can hold space for me is invaluable.” – Ellie Davies
“I really liked how Sophie naturally guided us to find our own drumbeat & then sync together. Felt really nurtured & embraced in a safe circle space to share with others. Drumming became for me now daily practice of self – care & self- love helping me to ground into my own energy. S.U.
You don’t need permission to work with the drum. But sometimes having someone who’s walked this path helps you trust yourself.
