Rebozo techniques for an easier birth

How to use a rebozo to support progress during labour and birth

A webinar for professionals and parents who want to learn how to use a rebozo to support labour and birth

Picture a mother in labour. Contractions are uneven. She feels pain her her hips or back. She starts to push, but after a while there are no signs of baby. A vaginal examination finds her to be ‘only’ 6cm dilated, with a back to back baby. She is strongly advised to have an epidural so that she can stop pushing. She is exhausted and in pain and the promise of relief and rest is too tempting to refuse. The baby doesn’t rotate and is born by forceps or caesarean.
Does this sound familiar?

What if I told you there was a better way?

If you have had enough of witnessing birth taking longer than the prescribed timing from maternity guidelines, and of seeing obstetrics interventions that go against biomechanics being offered as the only solution (how exactly is lying on your back going to help a malpositioned baby rotate?). If you have had enough of seeing new mothers blame themselves for it, there is a better way.

Rebozo techniques are simple positional and movement techniques which provide comfort and can help gently encourage progress and positioning effectively and safely.

Being present at such births in the past was what that led me to learn these techniques.

I have witnessed miracles. A short jiggle with a rebozo can help babies to turn by themselves in record time. Women being told they needed to go to theatre birthed their babies within an hour.

I want to share these techniques with you in my webinar called Rebozo Techniques for An Easier Birth.

In this one hour long class, I will share stories and tutorials that demonstrate how simple and effective these techniques can be.

What will the webinar contain?

  • A historical background of rebozo techniques for labour
  • Why rebozo techniques can help shift things when labour gets stuck
  • Birth stories to illustrate how these techniques help labour progress
  • Videos showing  how some of the techniques are done
  • Scientific evidence behind how these techniques work
  • Advantages of using a rebozo
  • How these techniques can be taught easily to birth partners, even remotely

By the end of this class, you will know why a rebozo can be the most effective and versatile tool in your birth bag.

You will also know how to access further knowledge and training in these techniques.

I will give you links to free resources, and I will also tell you about my newly updated rebozo online course, and will include a special offer for people attending the class.

Who is this class for?

This class is for birth professionals and for parents who want to learn how to use a rebozo to support physiological birth.

What makes this class special?

I have a unique blend of scientific, theoretical and practical experience. I was a biology research scientist for 20 year prior to reconverting to being a doula ten years ago. I offer a blend of scientific, traditional, and practical knowledge. I have extensive experience in using and teaching rebozo techniques both face to face and remotely.

About the instructor

Having worked as a doula since 2012, I also have a diploma in antenatal education and spent several years teaching antenatal classes. I have been facilitating workshops for birth professionals for over ten years. I know how present information in a way that is entertaining, easy to follow, and which allows students to learn easily and enjoyably, as well as apply what they have learnt in the class.

Prior to being a doula, I gained a PhD in Physiology of Reproduction and spent 20 years working as a biology research scientist.

When is it taking place?

The webinar will take place on Sunday the 27th of March at 8pm UK time (GMT). The class will last 1h, with a 40 min presentation and 20 min of Q&A.

Will there be a recording?
