Finding The Right Baby Sling
Gentle, supportive consultations in Cambridge and surrounding villages
You deserve support in finding what works for you
Every parent and baby is unique. The sling your friend loves might not feel right on your body or suit your lifestyle or your baby’s temperament. A consultation gives you time and space to discover what truly works for your family – saving you money, but more importantly, helping you feel confident and comfortable carrying your little one(s). I have experience supporting carrying twins and a baby and toddler at the same time too.
What to expect from our time together
Before we meet: We’ll have a chat by phone or email about your situation – your baby’s age, any specific needs or concerns, and what you’re hoping for in a carrier.
During your consultation (a gentle 2 hours in the comfort of your home):
- Understanding babywearing (10-15 minutes) We’ll talk about your baby’s developing spine and hips, how to carry them in a way that feels natural and safe.
- Seeing the options I’ll demonstrate different styles of carriers using a weighted doll, so you can see how each one works without any pressure.
- Trying for yourself You’ll practice with the weighted doll first – this gives you space to focus on the movements and find what feels comfortable on your body, without worrying about holding a wriggly baby at the same time.
- With your baby Once you feel ready, we’ll try your preferred options with your little one(s). We’ll take our time, with plenty of space for feeding, nappy changes, or cuddles as needed.
- Next steps If you’d like, I can guide you on where to find your chosen carrier, or share extra resources like tutorials or article regarding special situations – no pressure, just helpful information when you’re ready.
Expecting? You’re welcome to book a consultation during pregnancy too, so you feel prepared before baby arrives.
Online consultations for distant families
Can’t meet in person? I offer video consultations too:
- First session: We explore anatomy, safety, and I demonstrate different carriers
- Between sessions: You hire or purchase the carrier(s) that feel right
- Second session: We practice together until you feel confident with your baby

What parents say
I appreciated the advice on how to use slings safely, plus meeting people who actually use them which makes it all seem more real and do-able. Also the exposure to lots of different sorts of slings so you know that if one sort doesn’t suit there are others which may. — Carole
I came to the sling group for the first time to find out what sling to use now that my baby is getting too big for a wrap and I received great advice. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY: my baby was born prematurely and I had read that carrying her in a sling would help her— Alison
It’s invaluable I think. There is an overwhelming choice but ultimately, you need to try the slings on first to see if you and your baby like it and get some guidance from someone who understands the options- Jane
I left the consultation with a smile, not only from learning how to back carry but also due to Sophie’s enthusiasm and personality. She is a very friendly, easy going person who is clearly very knowledgeable and can impart that knowledge in a clear manner. I would definitely recommend her.” — Rohan
