Training for birthworkers and support for birthing families

Doula, healer and bodyworker

COVID update March 2020: I am aware that pregnant and new mothers are more in need of support than ever in the unexpected changes that the pandemic has brought. I am still available for births, but also now offering all my doula antenatal and postnatal support (except the massages) remotely via skype or other video apps. Just scroll through my offerings and contact me if you have any questions. I have written a series of blogs about ways to cope during the pandemic.

I support families through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

I offer a range of workshops to help birth workers develop their inner wisdom and skills through a blend of science and traditional knowledge.

  • Postnatal Massages
  • Rebozo techniques
  • Reiki for birthworkers

A couple of weeks ago I bumped into…

When did we become so blooming unkind?

When did we become so blooming unkind?

A couple of days ago, a doula friend published a blog post entitled “When did we become so blooming close minded“. It prompted me to finally write the “twin” post on kindness that I’ve been meaning to write for the last year or so. I have noticed rather a lot of unkind comments, directed towards…

"A time in between"-Waiting for a birth as a doula

I love this article by Jana Studelska, ” The Last Days of Pregnancy: A Place of In-Between”. I send it to my clients when they are fed up waiting for the baby to arrive. Jana uses a German word: ‘Zwischen’, which means ‘between’, to describe the unusual but necessary waiting time between the end…

My response to the Independent article on doulas 20/4/15

Yesterday Hannah Fearn wrote an article in the Independent on Doulas. I am usually a calm person but this article made my blood boil because it depicts doulas as money grabbing opportunists. I have been working as a birth and postnatal doula for a couple of years. To follow this vocation, I left a scientific…
