Doula Training course with Developing Doulas

Train to become a doula with Developing Doulas

Why do I want to train doulas?

The Developing Doulas course, and its founder, Maddie McMahon, have a special history for me.

Back in 2005, when I was pregnant with my son, I hired Maddie as my doula.

The experience was so incredibly empowering and life transforming that it started me on the path of an entire career reconversion, from being a scientist to becoming a doula and childbirth educator.

Three years later, when Maddie launched the first ever Developing doulas course in 2008, she asked me to attend as a guinea pig.

I absolutely loved the course, the course facilitators, and the amazing women I met.

Fast forwards ten years later, I've been a doula for over 6 years, and a doula mentor for 2 years, and it feels right and fitting that I should start working with Maddie to become a Developing doulas course facilitator.

Why become a doula with Developing Doulas?

I've personally benefited so much from becoming a doula. It has been such an amazing journey of self discovery, it has given me such joy, and such self belief. I also felt for myself the power of a feeling supported unconditionally through one's pregnancy and birth choices, and felt the same happen to so many women, I feel it has the power to change the world we live in. So it feels right, and important, to help more women embark on their journey to become a doula.

I wrote a blog about it here and you can watch me talk about it in the video below

After co-facilitating several Developing Doulas course with Maddie I have seen for myself the positive impact such a nurturing course has on women. Beyond their abilities to support women through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, attending the course positively impact them in more ways that can be explained, but in particular has incredible effects on one's self esteem and self belief.

I have recently been approved as a Developing Doulas course leader by a member of the doula UK leadership board, and I have my first solo course booked for May in London. I can't wait!

you can find out a lot more about the course on the Developing Doulas website
